Difficulty breathing through the nose is caused by several conditions.
Allergies, smoking and hayfever cause swelling of the nasal lining. Thereby partially closing the airway. Oral
antihistamines and nasal sprays usually temporarily correct most conditions. If these treatments are not effective opening
of the airway may be necessary by resecting and shifting the nasal septum or resecting enlarged turbinates (nasal glands).
Sinus conditions producing pressure in the face and headaches may be improved by septal or turbinate surgery. Severe
sinus conditions are best managed by ear, nose and throat specialists.
Surgically correctable conditions are often reimbursible by insurance carriers and can be addressed at the time of cosmetic
proceedures. Medical insurance will only reimburse for recent nasal injuries or breathing dificulties. Please
schedule a visit so we can evaluate and examine you to determine what is the most appropriate option.
